Some couples like having raw footage as a long-term archive, knowing it allows the day to be revisited or reinterpreted in the future, long after styles and technologies change. It’s a completely understandable question, especially if you’d like a personal archive alongside your highlight film.
Raw footage refers to the unedited video files recorded throughout the day. These clips are captured as events unfold, before any editing, colour grading, or sound balancing takes place.
Footage is recorded using Sony’s S-Log3 colour profile, which is designed to preserve as much detail and dynamic range as possible for professional colour grading. Because of this, raw footage will appear flat and low-contrast straight out of camera.
Raw footage isn’t intended to replace the finished film. Clips are uncut and ungraded, and may include repeated angles, partial moments, camera movement, or background audio. The highlight film is carefully shaped and colour graded to reflect how the day felt, bringing together the moments that naturally belong together in a balanced, watchable way.
Some couples choose to receive raw footage simply for peace of mind. It can be reassuring to know you have access to everything that was captured, including quieter or imperfect moments that don’t always sit naturally within a finished film.
Raw footage is available for a fixed fee of £95, which covers preparation, organisation, and delivery of the files on a physical SSD. Footage is supplied exactly as recorded and organised into a simple folder structure for easy access.
Whether or not you choose to receive raw footage, the focus remains the same: creating a film that reflects how the day felt, without forcing moments or performances. If you’re unsure whether raw footage is right for you, I’m always happy to talk it through.
